Enter the three additions once
- Open Dayworks.
- Enter the addition on labour, on materials and on plant from your contract particulars.
- Every sheet from then on uses them.
Worth knowingLabour additions of well over a hundred per cent are normal, because the addition carries national insurance, holiday pay, pension, supervision, small tools and insurance before it reaches overheads and profit. Materials additions are much lower because most of the cost is already in the invoice.
Add a sheet
- Add a sheet with its number, date and a description of what the work was.
- Enter the net labour, materials and plant separately.
- Link it to the instruction that authorised the work.
- QScope shows the sheet total with each addition applied to its own element.
Sheets with no instruction linked are flagged. Daywork carried out without a written instruction is the hardest money on any job to recover, not because anyone doubts the work happened but because nobody can establish what it took.
Agreed is not the same as submitted
Only sheets marked as agreed are carried into the final account. Submitted and disputed sheets are totalled separately so you can see both without confusing them.
- When a sheet is agreed, change its status.
- Click Use in final account to carry the agreed total into the dayworks line.
Worth knowingThe transfer is a deliberate click rather than an automatic feed, because an automatic feed would overwrite a figure you had negotiated every time somebody edited a sheet.
When daywork applies at all
Only where the work cannot properly be valued by measurement at contract rates. Where a rate exists, the rate applies. Daywork is not a choice between two ways of valuing the same work, and presenting it as one is how a sheet gets rejected on principle.
